Órüpézá Festival to light up Lagos with culture
Lagos is gearing up for another cultural spectacle as the Órüpézá Festival 2025 returns to Freedom Park on Lagos Island from September 28 to October 2.
The five-day event, which coincides with Nigeria’s Independence Day (October 1), promises a vibrant mix of music, film, fashion, dance, gaming, visual arts, and food, weaving tradition and modernity into an immersive cultural experience.

“Between fiery afrobeat anthems, soulful ballads, spoken word and comedy, the programme not only entertained but also sparked conversations on identity, legacy, and community,” it said.
The statement added that a major highlight of 2024 was the introduction of the Órüpézá Cultural Honours, celebrating icons whose work has shaped Nigeria’s creative landscape.
