Mari Selvaraj faces backlash for platforming sexual abuser Vedan in Bison
Tamil director Mari Selvaraj was called out on the Internet for collaborating with rapper Vedan for a song in his upcoming film, 'Bison'. Rapper Vedan was accused by multiple women of sexual harassment and is currently being investigated for a rape case.
amil director Mari Selvaraj was criticised by a section of Internet users over his collaboration with rapper Vedan, who has multiple sexual harassment complaints against him. The filmmaker joined hands with Vedan for a song in actor Dhruv Vikram's 'Bison'. The Internet questioned Mari for platforming an abuser in his film.
On September 16, a song titled 'Rekka Rekka', from 'Bison', was launched on social media platforms. While the lyrics were written by Selvaraj and rapper Arivu, it is sung by Arivu and rapper Vedan. 'Bison' is gearing up for a grand release on October 17.

After the song's release, the Internet noticed Selvaraj's collaboration with Vedan and called him out. The comments not only criticised Mari Selvaraj, but also targeted director Pa Ranjith for working with actor John Vijay, who was accused of sexual misconduct.
A user on X wrote, "Pa. Ranjith and Mari Selvaraj continue platforming artists like John Vijay and Vedan. They become one with the same enemies they are fighting despite the movement they represent. Highly unacceptable (sic)." Another user wrote, "Really disappointing to see Mari working with predators like Vedan (sic).

Not just sexual assault cases, rapper Vedan was also arrested for alleged possession of ganga.
Rapper Vedan rose to fame with his 2019 album 'Voice of the Voiceless', known for its raw and honest commentary on caste discrimination and the contradictions within modern-day Kerala.
