President Bola Tinubu on Friday sent warm birthday wishes to Nigerian Afropop legend, Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, as the iconic singer clocked 50.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President hailed 2Baba’s remarkable two-decade career, describing it as a true reflection of resilience, creativity, and national pride.
“For more than 20 years, 2Baba has serenaded us with soulful melodies, inspired generations, and carried the Nigerian flag with pride across the globe,” Tinubu said.
He noted that the singer’s timeless hit African Queen remains an evergreen masterpiece that showcased the beauty of African music to the world, firmly placing Nigeria on the global entertainment stage.
The President also praised 2Baba for using his influence to advocate for peace, unity, and good governance, stressing that his impact extends well beyond music.
He wished the music icon continued joy, good health, and fulfilment in the years ahead.
Since releasing African Queen in 2004—featured in the Hollywood film Phat Girlz—2Baba has earned multiple awards both at home and abroad, solidifying his place as one of Nigeria’s most influential musicians.
